HempCon 3D building elements

HempCon 3D is a precast building element system for walls, roofs and floor slabs. Each element combines load-bearing reinforced-concrete ribs with bio-based hempcrete infill. The elements are manufactured off-site using Ekotekt’s patented robotic 3D-printing process, then delivered and installed like conventional precast elements.

Build lighter

  • Build with lower embodied carbon

    Use up to 70% less concrete and replace non-structural mass with bio-based hempcrete that stores biogenic carbon.

  • Reduce transport and lifting demands

    Around 40% lighter elements can reduce transport weight and required lifting capacity, while making on-site handling and positioning easier.

  • Reduce loads on supporting structures

    Lower-weight elements reduce permanent loads and may reduce the material required in supporting structures and foundations

  • Support moisture resilience and indoor comfort

    Use hempcrete’s thermal insulation to support indoor comfort, while its vapour permeability and moisture-buffering capacity help manage moisture and moderate indoor humidity.

    Choose element dimensions, openings, interfaces and facade finishes to suit your project’s architectural and structural requirements.

    Use established Eurocode methods to design and verify the reinforced-concrete load-bearing structure within the standard BR18 permitting process. No separate approval route is required for the construction system.
